Dr. Laura A. Miller

Dr. Miller graduated from Michigan State University in 2009. She worked at a few other veterinary clinics as an associate veterinarian until she found her home here. In July 2015, she purchased Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic when Dr. William Schrauben retired.

Since July 2015, the clinic has had a whirlwind of exciting changes including full updating of all equipment veterinary-related and also a full remodel of the building in 2018. Every time you come in something will be different… she promises! Dr. Miller’s passions in veterinary medicine are Dentistry, Knee (Cruciate) Surgery, Multi-modal Pain Management, and lastly but MOST IMPORTANTLY Fear-Free examinations!!!

At home, Dr. Miller shares her house with 3 dogs, 3 cats, and her fiancé James. She enjoys being in the outdoors with her camera, hiking, canoeing, and even occasionally fishing. She also plays a mean game of euchre and is known to venture into video games during what little free time she has left!

Andrea Payne

I began working for Arbor Hills Veterinary in 2015. My boyfriend and I have a German Shepard named Bella, a Chihuahua Mix names Cici, and three cats named Lola, Kitten, and Scooby. We enjoy spending time outdoors with activities such as fishing, golf, and exploring northern Michigan.

Licensed Veterinary Technicians

Danielle Bailey, LVT

I graduated from Baker College of Jackson in May of 2019 from their Veterinary Technician Program. I started working at Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic in October of 2017. I’ve always had a love for animals, and I love that I get to work with them every day. I enjoy learning something new every day. The dog breeds that pull on my heart strings are Boxers and Labradors. I have a yellow Labrador at home named Otis, and he’s 3 years old. He’s full of energy and happy to see anyone. In my spare time, I love eating, being outdoors, and hanging out with family.

Jessica Mendenhall

My name is Jessica. I just moved here from Arizona and I am loving Michigan. I am married and have 4 kids, 3 dogs, and 1 cat. My family enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring all that Michigan has to offer.

Becca Woodard

I started working at Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic in July of 2019, I absolutely love coming to work and learning new things. Currently, I am a student in the Veterinary Technology Program at Baker College and will be graduating with my degree and license in 2021. I’ve always had a passion for working with animals and understanding how to help them. I got married to my favorite person in the whole world on 9/16/19. As far as pets of our own, we have a 5-year-old grey and white Domestic Shorthair (DSH) named Melvin. He’s the best kitty and our spoiled little furbaby. I am a soldier in the Michigan Army National Guard and have been in since October 2017. I enjoy going to metal concerts with my husband, rock-climbing, longboarding, and basically anything involving being active and cooking/baking. I’d love to one day work with big cats and exotic animals.

Tricia Jordon

I joined Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist in July of 2019. I have been married to my husband for eighteen years and we have five beautiful children, ages ranging from 12-17 years old. I have a BA in Elementary Education, and currently homeschool all of our children. We live on an acreage in the country, and I have always had a love for animals of all kinds. Our English Bulldog, Echo, recently had puppies, and this was one of the sweetest experiences of our lives. We also enjoy taking care of our various other pets, which include our four cats, eight parakeets, two lovebirds, saltwater fish, seventeen chickens, and our beautiful Blue Roan Paint horse, Bia.

I enjoy knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch. I love to sing – music is my lifeline! I also love spending time with my husband and kids as we watch movies, go to concerts, play board games, and attend church together.

Debra Embree

I began working at Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic in June of 2020. As a child, my first pet was a toy poodle named “FiFi”. Our house always had dogs, cats, and for a short time, a gerbil. Unfortunately, my daughter’s gerbil proved to be an escape artist! A pair of beautiful Belgian draft horses named “Mike” and “Ernie” and “Breezy”, the sweetest riding horse ever, occupied our barn. My daughter, son, and I took to the trails on their backs on many occasion. My husband and I currently have an amazing little tri color sheltie named “Maddie”. She is adorable!

I have been so fortunate to be welcomed by the staff here at this wonderful clinic. It is really fun to work with fellow animal lovers! Helping people, visiting with their pets, working with a team of caring and highly knowledgeable professionals, as well as learning something new daily, really makes for a totally enjoyable workday!

I am always looking for new adventures! Exploring archaeological sites (especially those with petroglyphs) and collecting stones from the Michigan shorelines are some of my favorite things to do. But on most days, you will find me at home, with my wonderful husband enjoying the beautiful sunshine while walking Maddie-girl or cruising around the lake in our pontoon! I do enjoy crocheting, drawing, and playing Celtic tunes on my flute. Nothing beats visiting with my mom, our children and grandkids though! When we are together, there is always plenty of laughter and reminiscing. Our family is incredible and I am so blessed!

Veterinary Pet Care Specialists

Debbie McArthur

I went to Michigan State for a degree in Zoology, and I bleed green. This is my second transfer of power here at the clinic. I was here when Dr. Schrauben took over from Dr. Acton and now as the baton is passed to Dr. Miller.

The new office computer and I are currently in a love/hate relationship due to my having little prior experience. Slowly, but surely, however, we are finding a way to co-exist.
When not working, I listen to selections from a large music collection, watch movies from an even larger DVD collection, and annoy my cats. I am also addicted to word puzzles.

Interesting facts about Debbie:

  • Hometown: Jackson, MI.
  • First of 3 born in family on Christmas day
